Our Interior Designer plays a critical role at 4 Forty Four. Your primary responsibility will be to successfully lead clients through the finish selection process. This is a Full-Time, year-round, Interior Design position within the Interior Design Pillar at 4 Forty Four. 4 Forty Four is a Residential and Commercial Design-Build firm in Blowing Rock, NC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead multiple design projects at once from concept to completion focusing on the 3 primary deliverables of Design Boards, Finish Selection Packages (FSPs) and Procurement planning and implementation
  • Collaborate with PM to estimate project costs
  • Meet with prospective clients, explain the design process, and explain hours estimated to implement the design scope of work required for the project.
  • Keep close track of hours spent on projects and maintain billable hour metric established by Senior
  • Management
  • Collaborate with in-house Design Team and Project Managers as well as Architects and Estimators to create a full-service custom building experience for clients in the high country
  • Manage a variety of projects including: consultations, new construction, space planning, renovations and custom furnishings
  • Create successful, creative floor plans and interior elevations by hand and via AutoCAD and Revit
  • Select finishes and furnishings based on job and clients needs and provide accurate documentation throughout and detailed specifications
  • Broad understanding of interior and exterior finishes and the ability to select finishes that are functional, within budget and meet client’s aesthetic needs
  • Creation of concept boards for design meetings and presentations
  • Track orders and lead times by contacting sales reps, receiving warehouses, etc.
  • Perform scheduled site visits to confirm designs are implemented successfully
  • Troubleshoot questions that come up on job sites
  • Perform quality control visits on active job sites in collaboration with VP of Interior Design
  • Occasionally assist with styling photo shoots, installs, etc at the direction of the Marketing Team

Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in Interior Design industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field preferred
  • Proven working experience in decorating interior and exterior spaces (consultations, renovations, space planning and new construction)
  • Expertise in layout, color, lighting, materials selection, custom furniture and all installations
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, 3D Max, Illustrator or other design programs
  • Excellent portfolio communicating previous completed work
  • Creative talent, imagination and eye for design
  • Communication and presentation skills
  • Project management skills
  • Must have a valid driver's license with access to an independent transportation
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs
