Three Boone Area Chamber of Commerce Members are working together to bring a patient care unit to the High Country!

Hospice patients often need more support to address pain, symptoms and needs at end of life than can be provided at home. In 2021, the state granted AMOREM’s request to build a patient care unit in the High Country. Appalachian Architecture designed the beautiful facility and Greene Construction is overseeing the project, which broke ground on September 26, 2023, with targeted completion by the end of 2024. The patient care unit will provide seven large patient rooms and home like family areas in a peaceful setting on Moonstruck Lane in Boone. A full-time local staff will be dedicated to providing compassionate end-of-life care for residents of the High Country. Currently, High Country residents must travel one to two hours to reach the closest hospice patient care unit.

Greene Construction is a proud supporter of this project and campaign and estimates upon completion of the structure it will include around 2,878 concrete blocks and 13,038 stones. It is easy to look at a building and lose sight of the individual components that make up the whole. It is important to remember that each of those concrete blocks and stones will be picked up and placed by hand, one at a time, to accomplish the mission: a patient care unit for High Country residents. The same rings true with AMOREM’s mission and philosophy of care: to provide quality, thoughtful, loving care to our patients...one patient and one family at a time.

Will you partner with AMOREM to bring more quality, more compassion and more support to the High Country?
