Blackburn, Childers & Steagall, PLC is seeking a motivated Full Time Tax Accounting Professional with at least 2 - 3 years of experience in public accounting. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ability to prepare and review individual and/or entity tax returns
  • Exhibit a deeper understanding of tax law and the ability to research more complex tax matters
  • Demonstrate a commitment to producing a high quality product
  • Provide tax-related consulting services to clients
  • Exhibit an understanding of the various softwares utilized in the Tax Department and the ability to assist others with software functions
  • Ability to prepare a complete and organized work paper file through review and/or preparation
  • Maintain relationships with clients to facilitate tax return preparation
  • Contributes to team success both through technical proficiency and leadership skills

Education and Experience Required:

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 2-3 years Tax experience, preferably in public accounting
  • CPA preferred

Tax Manager:


Blackburn, Childers & Steagall, PLC is seeking a motivated Tax Manager in our Boone, NC office.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage and mentor members of Tax team to greater levels of effectiveness and engagement
  • Review and manage tax engagements
  • Assume full responsibility for directing large engagements and special assignments
  • Supervise the assignment of duties to, and the training of, staff and senior accountants assigned to engagements
  • Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the Tax process
  • Demonstrate a high level of technical proficiency
  • Demonstrate an understanding of business issues relating to complex transactions
  • Work and communicate effectively with clients to enhance their understanding of business and tax issues
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to the tax team
  • Review and correspond with the IRS and Department of Revenue as it relates to audits and notifications.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of firm software packages and the ability to use such software effectively and efficiently

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; master’s degree in accounting preferred
  • 5 years of experience in preparing and reviewing individual, partnership and corporate tax returns with a familiarity of payroll tax, sales tax and general bookkeeping.
  • Current CPA license required
