Professional Bio
Upon retiring to the High Country, he continued to write his research independently, but in 2010 identified a perceived market void in media serving Blowing Rock. He launched and published Blowing Rock News until COVID-19 created uncertainty in the advertising market, so he opted to join Mountain Times Publications as editor of The Blowing Rocket. In the summer of 2022, he identified what he perceived to be another market void, this time in regional sports journalism. This prompted him to launch High Country Sports as another purely digital media outlet.
In his athletic prime, Rogers competed in rugby at a high level, as well as soccer, wrestling, and track and field.
Rogers is a member of Football Writers of America Association, U.S. Basketball Writers Association, National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, North Carolina Press Association, and Pro Football Writers of America.
Rogers is married to wife, Kim. They are members of Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church in Blowing Rock
