7th Annual High Country Economic Kickoff Luncheon

The event, presented by Peak Insurance Group, will take place on Thursday, January 19, 2023, from 11:00 am-1:00 pm in the Grandview Ballroom, located at Appalachian State's North Endzone Facility.
The Boone Area Chamber of Commerce, the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce, and the Watauga County Economic Development Commission are proud co-hosts of this event.

Dr. Harry Davis, NC Bankers' Association Professor
Keynote presenter, Dr. Harry Davis, a longtime Appalachian State Walker College of Business faculty member and member of the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, will deliver his 2023 High Country Economic Forecast. Dr. Davis is a regionally renowned economist and serves as both Dean and Instructor for the North Carolina School of Banking.
Tracy Swartout, Superintendent, Blue Ridge Parkway
Tracy is a 22-year veteran of the National Park Service and was named Superintendent of the Blue Ridge Parkway in April of 2021. She has been recognized as the southeast region's Superintendent of the Year in 2012. Tracy holds a Bachelor of Arts in geography and has completed the United States Department of Agriculture's executive leadership program.
Eric Woolridge, AICP, Director of Planning and Business
Development, Destination by Design
Eric has worked in planning and economic development for more than twenty years and during his career has assisted more than 150 local government jurisdictions in the fields of land use planning, place-based economic development, open space and greenway planning, downtown revitalization, and place-branding.
During the presentation, the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce will reveal the recipients for the 2022 Watauga County Business of the Year Awards, presented by Carolina Mountain Title. Business of the Year winners will be recognized in three categories: Large Business, Small Business, and Startup Business.
Doors open at 11:00 am for an excellent opportunity to network with event attendees from across the High Country. A buffet-style lunch will be served prior to the presentation.
