Professional Bio
Corey Furman, PharmD, is pharmacist, business leader, and community & political activist from Boone, NC. A 1989 graduate of Watauga High School, Corey was inducted into the Order of the Arrow, the Boy Scouts of America Honor Society, in 1987 and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 1988. He earned his Doctorate in Pharmacy from Campbell University in 1995.
Corey began his career at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, where he worked in both Central Pharmacy and Internal Medicine until 1997. He then returned to Boone, NC, to join Boone Drugs, Inc. Since 2016, Corey has served as the President and Partner of Boone Drugs, Inc.
In 2011, Corey founded and served as the course director for Campbell University's Christian Pharmacy Missions Elective class for second- and third-year students. As an alumnus of Campbell University, he has held several significant roles, including Member of the Board of Trustees, member of the Medical Missions Advisory Council, and the Presidential Board of Advisors. His contributions have been recognized with the Distinguished Alumni Award and the M. Keith Fearing Community Pharmacy Practice Award.
Corey is deeply committed to his community, having served as a Deacon in his church and on various church committees. He has also been the BSA Troop 100 Committee Chairman, a member of the Baptist Campus Ministries Board of Directors, and the Appalachian Christian School Board of Directors. He currently serves on the North Carolina Pharmacist Association Policy & Advocacy Committee, the Southern Evangelical Seminary Board of Trustees (Treasurer & Finance Committee Chairman), and the Samaritan's Purse Board of Directors.
His professional memberships include the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA), the North Carolina Association of Pharmacists (NCAP), and Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International (CPFI).
