Important Message Regarding Coronavirus

As COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) continues to dominate the news, many of you have taken notice of the recent spread of the virus into parts of the United States. Health and safety officials from numerous High Country agencies have been in contact regarding their response plan should anyone in our area present symptoms of this illness. As many experts have stated, this is not a time for panic, but a time for preparation, should there be any disruption of services in our community.

The Boone Area Chamber of Commerce is following the lead of the AppHealthCare (Appalachian District Health Department), Appalachian Regional Healthcare System, Watauga County Schools, the Watauga County Sheriffs Department, and Appalachian State University in helping to communicate important information to our local business community. As we live in a tourist economy, our area sees visitors from all over the country on a weekly basis. It's important to follow preparedness guidelines set forward by Federal, State, and Local agencies to help protect your staff and customers from all potential illnesses, including COVID-19 (novel coronavirus).

Our partners at the North Carolina Chamber of Commerce have launched a Coronavirus Resource Guide to help businesses prepare and provide as many resources and facts as possible in one landing page.

Your business plays a key role in protecting employees’ health and safety, as well as limiting the negative impact to our communities and local economy.

We will continue to share any messaging passed to us by the AppHealthCare, should it become necessary. In the meantime, if you have any questions about specific business resources, please contact our office at 828-264-2225 and we will work to get your questions answered.

For the most current information on COVID-19 (novel coronavirus), visit the NC Department of Health & Human Services website here and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention website here. You can also follow AppHealthCare on Facebook and Twitter. They will be sharing the latest information from NC DHHS & CDC on those accounts.
Thanks for your time and attention to this matter.
