With MerleFest weekend in full swing, the eyes of the nation are focused upon Northwest North Carolina to see some of the top performers of yesterday and today. The next generation of entertainers are on display Friday night as the 17th-annual Shooting Stars talent show is presented by the Watauga Education Foundation.
Colleen Utter, show producer and WEF board member, discussed the event and the mission of WEF on this week’s Mind Your Business, a weekly radio program produced in partnership between the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce and High Country Radio.
The Watauga Education Foundation uses proceeds from Shooting Stars and it’s annual Flap Jack Flip fundraiser to furnish grants for local educators to supplement classroom learning tools and professional development opportunities.
Listen to the full interview at the link below, which includes a preview of this year’s show. Shooting Stars takes place Friday night, April 28th, at 6:30 pm at the Schaefer Center for the Preforming Arts on the campus of Appalachian State University. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased here
