With more emphasis placed on cyber economy, it’s important for businesses of all sizes to have a sound communications strategy when it comes to social media. Local communications specialist Jason Reagan discussed his upcoming lunch-and-learn: Blog Your Way To Success on this week’s Mind Your Business, a weekly radio program produced in partnership between the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce and High Country Radio.

Blogging is a cost-effective way for businesses to delve deeper into product offerings, company news, or personal stories that can help sell an overall brand. While social media portals like Twitter, Facebook, and Instragram are effective in reaching key audiences, blogging is often less restrictive and in many cases is available free of charge.

“We are entering what I call the storytelling era,” said Reagan. “That’s where consumers are really connecting. They want to hear what the story is all about. They expect you, as the business owner, to tell the elevator pitch of your company or product and how it’s going to effect their needs. In order to do that you need to have in your toolkit some basic ideas on how to communicate, especially across the digital platform and leading into social media.”

Blog Your Way to Success will be held at the Blue Ridge Energies Community Room in Boone on Thursday, February 23rd. The session lasts from 11:45am-1pm and lunch will be provided for a small fee. To register, please click here
