Boone will be bustling with excitement over the next few days as the first full weekend of October brings excellent weather, First Friday Art Crawl, and Appalachian State Homecoming. Patrick Setzer, Executive Director of Alumni Affairs at App State details the list of festivities surrounding this year’s event on this episode of Mind Your Business, a weekly radio program produced in partnership between the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce and High Country Radio.
The annual Homecoming Parade will make its way through the heart of Downtown Boone at 6pm Friday, October 6th. As the parade begins, vehicular access will be temporarily shut down on King Street, from Water Street to Appalachian Street for 30-45 minutes. ApptoberFest begins at 7pm on Howard Street, featuring live music, a beer garden, and other vendors. Combined with the monthly Downtown Boone First Friday Art Crawl, the area will be full of energy and excitement. Town of Boone parking meters and lots on Howard, Queen, and King Streets are available for free parking after 5pm. App State lots are also free for public use after 5pm, except for the Peacock Hall parking area, which will open for public use following the parade. A map of the parade route can be found here.
