Watauga Leadership Challenge Alumni Event Set For May 17th

Since 1998, over 300 members of the local community have participated in the Watauga Leadership Challenge.

In 2018, a new Leadership Development course was added to the WLC program, focused on reengaging past participants with a deeper dive into leadership development topics.

On Thursday, May 17th, the first 17 members of the Watauga Leadership Development class join 24 members of the Watauga Leadership Challenge class as new graduates of their respective programs. We invite all alumni of Watauga Leadership Challenge to join us for a special WLC Alumni Dinner, to honor our new graduates and to celebrate a community of leaders that have been impacted by this program for over two decades.

Appalachian State University professor, and world renowned storyteller, Ray Christian serves as the keynote speaker for this event. A combat veteran of the United States Army, Christian has participated and won numerous storytelling competitions across the world, blending personal accounts and experiences with relevant messages about our growth as a people. His presentation, The Power of Voice, will focus on how community leaders can use their voice, both literally and figuratively, to impact their business and personal lives.

The WLC Alumni Dinner will be held May 17th, from 5-7:30pm at Harvest House in Boone. Catering is provided by Woodlands Barbeque with beverages provided by local craft breweries. Tickets are $20 for Chamber members and $25 for non-members and can be purchased at this link.
