UPDATED: Area Resorts Making Snow and Opening Plans

With temperatures in the low 20’s Sunday night and Monday’s forecast showing more of the same, Boone area winter resorts are enjoying prime snow making conditions. The following opening plans were released over the weekend:

Appalachian Ski Mountain – Blowing Rock, NC – Opening Day set for Thursday, November 23rd. 

Appalachian Ski Mountain offers a FREE ski ticket to the first 100 guests to the Ticket Cashier Window on Opening Day.

Beech Mountain Resort – Banner Elk, NC – Opening Day set for Friday, November 24th. 

Check out the grand re-opening of Beech Mountain Brewing Company Friday, December 1st, from 5-10 pm. Enjoy live music, door prizes, and much more.

Hawkesnest Snow Tubing – Seven Devils, NC – Planning on opening Thanksgiving Weekend. Check HawkesnestTubing.com for further updates and to check snow making progress on their webcams.

Hawksnest Tubing park is the largest snow tubing park on the East Coast. With over 30 lanes of snow tubing that span from 400-1000 feet long, Hawksnest Tubing provides an excellent destination for a unique winter experience. Four different snow tubing areas provide an array of terrain that satisfies even the most advanced of tubers.

Sugar Mountain Resort – Banner Elk, NC – OPEN AS OF MONDAY MORNING. Check SkiSugar.com for slope conditions and other updates. 

SugarFest is set for December 8-10th. Numerous events, games, and demos will be held throughout the event, highlighted by an appearance by 1992 US Olympic figure skating silver medalist Paul Wylie.
